The term “allopathy” was invented by German physician Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843). Allopathy is derived from the Greek words allo, (meaning opposite) and pathos (meaning suffering). The philosophy of allopathy is the extreme opposite of homeopathy. This term is used by some medical practitioners to describe people who practice conventional medicine. This term is developed to insult traditional medical practitioners and mostly doctors did not use the term allopaths for themselves because they feel that it is not an adequate charactrization of medicine practice.
